I will be blunt, if you are a live event media guru it’s time you learn Quartz Composer for Mac. Some may balk at the idea of learning a new software, while others hate the idea of ever touching a Mac machine. While I love and support the media servers currently on the market, Quartz allows for a greater degree of flexibility and adaptation.

Support for network synced real-time rendering over multiple machines via Quartz Composer Visualizer

It’s FREE!  Quartz is included with the developer tools on every Mac install DVD.

Best of all, it is a forgiving and easy to learn visual programming environment.  There are examples all over the internet (look for the .qtz file extension), and picking apart a file is hardly a challenge for even a novice programmer.  Good luck!
